Welcome to Pon’s Hobby Room

English

Hi there, I’m Pon. Nice to meet you.

I’ve just launched this blog, “Pon’s Hobby Room.” As my very first post, I figured I’d start with a little introduction about myself.

So, who is Pon?

  • Name: Pon (a nickname)
  • Age: A guy in his 30s
  • Location: Based in the Kansai region (western Japan)
  • Job: Just an ordinary office worker
  • Personality: Efficiency-obsessed, and a little bit competitive

No fancy titles, no impressive resume here. I’m just an ordinary office worker in his 30s who loves enjoying his hobbies.

What I’ll be writing about

On this blog, I’ll mostly be writing about the hobbies I’m actually into right now.

  • Travel: Hot springs and sightseeing trips you can fit into a weekend or a long holiday
  • Sauna: Reviews of spots for getting that “totonou” buzz, plus things beginners should know
  • Cooking: Simple “reset meals” you can throw together even on a weeknight
  • Bonsai: Some laid-back gardening I’ve recently started dabbling in
  • Reading: Everything from business books to novels. I read a bit of anything
  • Gaming: A casual session here and there on weekends when I have the time

For all of these, I’ll write honestly about what I actually tried and felt—”this was great” or “this was kind of meh.” I write whenever the mood strikes, so feel free to drop by and browse at your own pace.

Why I started this blog

It all started when I hit my 30s and suddenly wondered, “How do people even find hobbies? And could mine actually be useful to someone?”

Take sauna, for example. There’s actually a lot I wish I’d known back when I was a beginner. How to pick a place, how to ease into the cold plunge, when to catch the loyly steam—you can look it all up, but someone’s real, firsthand experience is way more helpful.

So I started this blog to share my own experiences with the people who are about to start the same things.

I write with AI doing a lot of the heavy lifting

I run this blog using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, and the like).

Organizing the writing, speeding up research, putting the structure together—I hand off whatever I can to AI, so I can focus on the parts that really matter: the firsthand experience and the judgment calls.

I figure some of you might be curious about “what’s it actually like writing a blog with AI?” So I’m planning to write a bit about the behind-the-scenes of running this blog, little by little.

I’m also on note

Apart from this blog, I also write articles on note.

On note, I go a step deeper than the blog—more hands-on know-how and topics like “AI x working smarter,” including some paid articles.

If anything on the blog catches your interest, come check out my note page too.

Coming up next

My next post is going to be about sauna.

The word “totonou” (that blissful sauna high) caught on first, but a lot of people tried it and didn’t really get what the fuss was about. For those folks, I’m planning to share 3 tips I discovered through my own experience.

Updates are a bit whenever-I-feel-like-it, but I’ll keep at it at an easy pace. If you like, go ahead and bookmark the blog.

Alright, I’m looking forward to having you along from here on out.
